The situation of the Greek economy and the developments in Europe were discussed in today’s meeting between the Troika and ND President Antonis Samaras.
The meeting, which lasted one hour, was attended by Deputy Minister of Finance, Prof. John Mourmouras, Deputy Head of the Economics Sector, MP Christos Staikouras, Deputy Head of the Finance Sector, Mr. Notis Mitarakis and Advisor to the President Chrisanthos Lazarides. According to information, an assessment was made of the situation and the PSI progress was discussed.
The Troika claimed that Greece had not achieved the targets set for 2011, placing blame on the Greek authorities, and raised the issue of taking additional measures.
At the same time, it also expressed its opinion that redundancies must be implemented in the public sector and wages must be reduced in the private sector in order to improve the competitiveness of the Greek economy.
The ND party insists that any measures, either corrective or long term, must be taken by the government that will emerge after the elections.
