Irresponsible pressures on Samaras to back down!

Intense discussions exist within the New Democracy party on participation, or not, in the coalition government.

The leak by parliamentary party spokesman Costas Markopoulos is indicative; he stated that “I support and concur with Antonis Samaras. However, we should know that within the bosom of the parliamentary group, there are not only those who support the coalition, but there is a real and diffuse point of view about not participating with politicians in said coalition”.

However, Mr. Markopoulos stated that there is no evidence of a signature collection in this direction.

A similar position was adopted yesterday by Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos. Interestingly enough, the divergence in opinions has even reached Mr. Samaras’ staff, with Messrs. Chrysanthos Lazaridis and Dimitrios Stamatis in favor of finding a consensual solution and government participation.

Information arising from all opposition staff members indicate that the transitional government is likely to be joined by Stavros Dimas, Kostis Hatzidakis, Nikos Dendias, Costas Tzavaras and John Mourmouras, informal adviser to Mr. Antonis Samaras.
