Athens and Berlin are stressing over what is to come
Prime Minister George Papandreou and German Chancellor Angela Merkel had a telephone communication late on Tuesday afternoon.

The communication took place at Mrs. Merkel’s initiative, within the context of the continuous briefings she has asked for on the process of Hellenic reforms.

During their telephone conversation, developments in the Eurozone area were their primary talking point, as they assessed yesterday’s Eurogroup results. There was also an evaluation of the implementation of the July 21st agreement.

Although no official government information has been given out, it is certain that the discussion revolved around both today’s market turmoil and vice-chancellor Philip Resler’s impending visit to Athens.

The German press reports that Mr. Resler is visiting Athens in order to provide the German plan for Greece’s controlled default.
