Due to latest reports on Thursday, the wildfires which broke out late Wednesday in the southwestern part of Corfu island, near the villages of Chlomo and Vitalades, have been partially contained.

Due to latest reports on Thursday, the wildfires which broke out late Wednesday in the southwestern part of Corfu island, near the villages of Chlomo and Vitalades, have been partially contained.
Fire Brigade units on foot remain in the area so as to handle possible rekindling as winds blow strong.
The flames threatened nearby houses and shops, but no serious damage was reported.
Police and Fire Brigade are speaking of arson due to the fact that the blaze broke out simultaneously at several spots.
