6 more people were added to the list of flu victims in the last 48hrs, increasing the number of lives claimed by the A(H1N1) virus and its complications to 21. Meanwhile, 13 new serious cases have been hospitalised in ICU units.
Of the 21, 16 were men and 5 women. The average age is 57. The youngest victim was a 14yo girl and the oldest a 70yo man. Regarding their medical history, 14 of them were in the high-risk group because they were suffering from chronic health problems, while 7 of them had none.
«We are at the heart of the flu season» said today the vice minister of Health, Michalis Timosidis, asking those who belong to high-risk groups to take advantage of the flu vaccine even at this peak point of the flu season.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the year, there have been 94 admissions in ICUs due to the appearance of complications after patients become ill.
According to today’s report by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO), 47 people are being treated in ICUs around the country.
