Theophany day with cold, rain and snow in the mountains

Theophany day will have a wintry setting all over the country. In eastern Macedonia and Thrace there will be passing cloud and mild transient snow or sleet in western Macedonia. The Ionian Sea will have local rain and sporadic storms.

Local rain and passing snow on the mountains are expected in Epirus. In Thessaly and the rest of the mainland we are expecting local rain and snow in the mountains. Peloponnisos will see some local rain and sporadic storms. Local rain for the Aegean too, mainly in Sporades and the north, while in Crete some sporadic early morning storms might occur. The weather will improve in the night.

The Ionian winds will be southeastern 3-4 and locally 5B in the south, while in the open sea of Peloponnisos eastern 5-6B. Aegean winds will be northern 4-5 B and later 6 in the Dodecanese. The temperature will reach 6-7 degrees in the north, 14-15 south and west and 11-13 degrees Celsius in the rest of the country. Frost will formulate in the mainland during the night and early morning hours.

On Friday eastern Aegean and Dodecanese will have mild weather. Rest of the country will see local overcast and there is a chance of mild local rain and snow in the mountains. Ionian winds will be southeastern 3-4B and in the afternoon southwestern in the north. In the Aegean they will be northern 4-5B and in the east 5-6B, while in the Dodecanese winds will blow at 7B. The temperature will reach 8-9 in the north, 15-16 in the west and south and 13-14 in the rest of the country, with frost forming in the night and early morning hours in the mainland and north.

Local cloud and a lot of sunshine are forecast for Friday, and only in Crete is there a chance for mild local rain in the morning. Visibility will be restricted in the mainland during the morning hours. In the Ionian Sea winds will be western 3-4B, in the Aegean northern 4-5B and 5-6 in the southeast, while in the Dodecanese they will reach 7B. Temperature will rise all over the country and reach 9-10 in the north, 15-16 in the west and south and 14-15 degrees in the rest of the country.

Mild cloudand a lot of sunshine are predicted for Sunday. Visibility will be restricted locally in the morning hours. Ionian winds will be variable 3-4B turning from northern to southeastern 4-5B and later 6B in the north of the Corfu open sea. Aegean winds will be northern 4-5 and locally 6B, with a gradual decline. The temperature will rise a bit more and reach 10-11 in the north, 15-17 in the west and south and 15-16 in the rest of the country.
