Christofias: I did not expect that my friend, Juncker, would blame me
"I had expected Mr. Juncker to help Cyprus"
Former President of Cyprus, Dimitris Christofias, in a statement, expressed his regret on everything that Jean-Claude Juncker charged him with, in relation to the delay of measures which would have helped Cyprus avoid the deposits cut.
Mr. Christofias, in a statement, says: "I am saddened, because an important factor of European affairs, such as Jean-Cladue Juncker, a good personal friend of mine and a long-term friend of Cyprus, deigns to bind himself to the election chariot of the Democratic Rally party. Of course, it is clear that neoliberal forces, which generated Mr. Juncker, have populism on their daily agenda, especially in times of elections.
The truth is that I was expected Mr. Juncker to help Cyprus. Unfortunately, it seems that under the influence of Mrs. Merkel and the Germans, even when we stated in November 2012 that we ended in a memorandum, Jean Claude articulated no words nor offered any aid to sign said memorandum.
It seems that he, with his silence and inaction, served the goals of the European neoliberal forces and especially the Democratic Rally. The truth is that Jean Claude Juncker, could have helped, but he did not do so. Should we think that he helped his like-minded individual to signing the destructive memorandum? I say all this, to establish the truth".
