Holidaymakers' "exodus" peaking despite bad weather

It is Good Friday today, and traditionally the exodus of holidaymakers will peak by noon, since most people want to reach their destinations before the Epitaphs procession.

Despite the bad weather on Holy Thursday - until 6pm- around 73000 vehicles had passed from Afidnes and Eleusis tolls, a similar number to last year's.

Traffic police are on site along highways in order to intervene wherever and whenever it is necessary for the smooth movements of excursionists.

The weather, however, will not be an ally of those who chose to leave the city, since it is expected to worsen during Good Friday, with rains and thunderstorms.

Parts of western Macedonia will once again be reminiscent of Christmas, since snowfall is expected even in areas with a relatively low altitude.

As far as those who choose to travel by ship, winds in the Aegean sea will be southerly-southwesterly, moderate, while the Ionian will experience weak westerly winds.

Temperatures will range between 3 and 16 degrees Celsius in Northern Greece, 6 to 19C in Central Greece, 9 to 20 degrees in southern Greece, 7 to 17C in western Greece and 11 to 19 degrees in the Aegean islands and Crete.

Attica and Thessaloniki are expected to experience a few clouds with a chance of precipitation and showers.
