Hollande gives Segolene a place in government

The new Valls government in France only includes two new fresh faces. These are Segolene Royal, who took over the reinforced Ministry of Ecology, and Francois Rebsamen who is taking over the problematic Ministry of Employment. French media underlines that the Minister of Health is not even mentioned in the new government roster.

Segolene's grand return to France's political stage, which was heralded by valid French sources, is now a given. The government reformation that Francois Hollande went forward with, in order to rescue all which remains, brought his former partner and mother of his four children, to the party. The former baroness of the Socialist party is taking over the Ecology, Development and Energy ministry.

Michel Sapin is taking over the Finance Ministry, while Arnaud Montebourg has been appointed Economy Minister. Laurent Fabius, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Christianne Taubira remain at their already appointed Foreign, Defense and Justice ministries respectively.

Benoit Hamon is taking over the Education Ministry, Bernard Cazeneuve the Ministry of the Interior, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem at the Ministry of Equality and Sport.

The greatest losses were suffered by former prime minister Ayrault and former minister of Finance Moscovici, who was forced to resign.
