European Central Bank (ECB) is holding Greek bonds at a book value of 25,4 billion euros, according to information it released earlier today.

ECB bought the bonds at the height of the debt crisis in the Eurozone, under the Securities Markets Programme (SMP), together with Irish, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese bonds.

The bank will hold these bonds for another four years on average. ECB did not disclose the cost of this purchase and it will hold them until their maturity.

The SMP program expired on September 6, 2012 and was replaced by the OMT program.
