Samaras travels to Strasbourg tonight
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras will leave tonight for Strasbourg. On the occasion of the undertaking of the Presidency of the European Union he will speak on Wednesday at the European Parliament and will accept questions from MEPs.

Samaras will talk about the objectives and priorities of the Greek Presidency and the progress of the Greek economy and the promising, as he believes, prospects in 2014. He will also talk about the vision of a Europe of solidarity, competitiveness and social cohesion and will put forth the need to increase employment and tackle illegal immigration.

He will of course repeat that having secured a primary surplus and achieved most of the objectives of the program Greece is not a risk for the EU. He believes that the course of Greece's exit from the crisis can be an example of success for the entire European Union.

The PM’s preparation for this "test" has already begun yesterday as he expects tough questions by MEPs mainly of leftist parties. Samaras will have to answer for the consequences of the memorandum, the relations of the government with the troika and the postponement of the visit of the EP Committee that controls the troika activities in countries under surveillance.
