Theocharis: We will not take homes in three months
"People should not be afraid," the Public Revenue Secretary General said
"The provisions for overdue loans have been voted for from the summer to take effect from 1/1/2014," Public Revenue Secretary General Haris Theocharis said.
Speaking to Mega TV he stated that the legislative initiative for fines to those who have arrears to the State belongs to the political leadership of the Ministry of Finance.
Regarding seizure of property he said "people should not be afraid that in a quarter of a year we will take their homes. This does not exist. The seizure is not taking your house but prevents you from selling it before your debt repayments to the tax authorities. There's no way to take less than one year before an auction starts," he added.
