Economist: Greece will require further aid in 2014 and attention to extreme rightists

In its annual edition of the “World in 2014”, Economist magazine says the Greek debt negotiation and related conditions will last throughout the first half of the year but will result in sufficient support to prevent easing and an exit from the Eurozone, probably in the form of better lending terms.

According to the magazine, although the reforms will pay off eventually, however, the economy in dollar terms will shrink in 2014 and will drop to two-thirds of pre-crisis levels.

Economist warns against far-right extremism in Greece saying the country has a history of right-wing extremism after periods of economic collapse. "The latest threat is the neo-fascist party Golden Dawn, with its attacks on immigrants and leftists. The Greek government sends the party to the courts for its criminal activity, but it retains some popular support."

Lastly, Economist foresees recession of 1% for 2014 and a deficit at 3.5% of GDP.
