Olli Rehn: The new objective values in Greece will come in 2016
The harmonization of objective values with actual ones is postponed for 2016, Olli Rehn replied to Theodore Skylakakis
The new revised objective values of real estate in Greece will take effect from 2016, according to a reply of European Commission Vice President Olli Rehn to a question by the President of DRASI and MEP of Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Theodore Skylakakis.
According to the announcement, Rehn’s response was the following: "The Greek authorities continue to work on the formal procedure to review the assessed value of real estate in order to better align with market prices. This typical procedure shall apply to the purposes of real estate taxation for the financial year of 2016."
In his relevant statement Skilakakis argues inter alia that "the postponement of this structural change is done purely for collection purposes and sadly shows that both the Greek side, who apparently agreed with this decision, as well as the European, ignore the structural changes when they believe they can easily collect taxes, even if it involves the most extreme, unreasonable and illegal taxation, such as taxation of nonexistent property."
