Man holds several people hostage in Ingolstadt
Only a few hours before the scheduled visit by Chancellor Angela Merkel a man has taken several people hostage in the old town hall of Ingolstadt in southern Germany.
Some reports indicate that the Mayor of the city is among the hostages.
A spokesman of the local police said the hostages are held on the second floor of the building and that authorities already have contacted the perpetrator but have no information about his weapons or his demands.
Merkel has planned to visit the city today and make a speech in the evening.
