IMF to Germany: No to excessive austerity, show leadership attitude in Europe

The Fund expects 0.3% growth for the German economy this year and about 1.3% for 2014

IMF to Germany: No to excessive austerity, show leadership attitude in Europe

With its latest study, and in view of the upcoming elections in the country, the IMF asked Germany to show an increased leadership attitude and develop a long term plan for closer economic and monetary integration of the Eurozone countries.
 
IMF also calls on the German government to avoid unnecessary austerity, as the economic outlook remains uncertain and its economy -the largest in Europe- appears vulnerable to the slowdown in external demand.
