PASOK: After the VAT in catering, the diesel fuel tax must be reduced too
PASOK spokesman Odysseas Konstantinopoulos stressed the need to reduce the excise duty on diesel fuel as the next target of the Greek government in the negotiations with the Troika.

"Today we expect the Finance Minister to convince the Τroika and our partners for a pilot program similar to VAT on diesel fuel as well. This is a proposal that we should look upon immediately to convince the partners," Konstantinopoulos said in the morning show of ANT1 TV.

Trying to explain why PASOK had voted for the proposal to increase the excise duty on diesel fuel, he talked about a "necessary compromise" adding that since then PASOK had pointed to Yannis Stournaras that the measure will not have any effect.

Lastly, Konstantinopoulos said that the Greek government "should ease the Greek people from over-taxation. We can show our partners that we will get more taxes and Stournaras must  prove to the Greeks that the issue is not whether MPs are tired or rested, but to rest Greeks from over-taxation."
