Süddeutsche Zeitung: Samaras is a tamer of banks

"Tamer of banks" is the title conferred to Antonis Samaras by the German Süddeutsche Zeitung, regarding yesterday's meeting with the bankers.

With an article in the column of "Personal Information", the German newspaper reported on Samaras’ duty, who must make banks to finally do what they should and that is to provide Greek business with enough capital. "This is the only way for the Greek economy to recover," the article appreciates.

"Antonis Samaras, the manager of an emergency situation in Greece currently has one of the toughest places in the world," it adds.

After the meeting with the bankers, Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras said their central issue was the provision of liquidity by banks. "That does not sound really good," the newspaper says, and explains that the situation is complicated because banks have enough capital but do not intend to let it go. "Especially small and medium enterprises have made accusations about this. Samaras will probably have to do more about it," the German newspaper concludes.
