Papakonstantinou’s cousins concealed 5.3 million euros income

Fines and penalties for the two families of former Finance Minister George Papakonstantinou’s cousins included in the major depositors of the Lagarde list reach 10 million euros, according to the findings delivered by the Financial Crime Unit (SDOE) in parliament.

According to information, the report states that the hidden material for Helen Papakonstantinou and her husband Simeon Sykiaridis the last decade reaches 4.1 million euros. For the other cousin of the former Finance Minister, Marina Papakonstantinou, and her husband Andreas Rossonis, the hidden taxable items reach 1.2 million euros.

During the tax audit, SDOE agents compared the reported income of the families of the two Papakonstantinou cousins to their deposits in all Greek banks, thereby identifying the large difference of 5.3 million euros.

Following the completion of a tax audit by the Cyber Crime Unit, government members said it would make sense to remove the names of the two cousins of Papakonstantinou from the Lagarde list in order for them to avoid a tax audit.
