Eurostat: 46% of Greeks income spent on taxes

According to Eurostat, 46% of the income of Greek citizens in 2013 will be spent on taxes.

It is one of the highest in the relevant European Union list, with Sweden at the top, since the Swedes will pay 56.6% of their income in taxes.

With 46% Greece ranks eleventh after Belgium (53.7%), Denmark (55.6%), Germany (47.5%), Spain (52%), the Netherlands (52%), Austria (50%), Portugal (53%), Slovenia (50%) and Finland (51.1%).

The income tax of individuals in Greece increased from 45% in 2000 to 49% in 2012 and according to the figures fell at 46% for 2013.

In the EU of the 27, from 44.8 in 2000 fell to 38.1% in 2012 and increased to 38.3% in 2013, and in the Eurozone from 47.1% in 2000 to 43.1% in 2012 and 43.3% in 2013.

Tax revenue as a GDP percentage in Greece fell from 34.6% in 2000 to 31.7% in 2010 and increased to 32.4% in 2011.

In the EU there is a decrease from 40.4% to 38.3% in 2010 and an increase to 38.8% in 2011, and in the Eurozone from 40.9% in 2000 to 39% in 2010 and 39.5% in 2011.
