UPD:
According to statements by deputy Finance minister Yorgos Mavraganis, wage earners and pensioners will have to collect receipts during their purchases for the 2013 fiscal year as well.
The collection of receipts is a prerequisite in order to benefit from the special tax-free amount (2,100 euros tax credit) under the new tax bill.
Commenting on the objective values of real estate, the deputy minister said they will first proceed to extending the application of objective values in 2013 in areas not covered by the system and then they will adjust them.
Asked whether there will be an increase in objective values in 2013, Mavraganis said «we have no such aim. To proceed to an automatic mechanism for adjusting the prices we must first integrate all areas.»
He also said that directors in tax offices will change based on meritocratic criteria and not partisan ones, and that the tax inspectors will be judged on a 3-month basis. He heralded the full activation of the control mechanism and constant audits by tax authorities.
Taxpayers will need to collect receipts for 25% of their declared income to be eligible for the tax deduction for amounts higher than 42,000 euros, up to which there will be a benefit from the special tax-free amount. Taxpayers will need to collect receipts up to 10,500 euros.
The new tax bill does not provide for a tax-free amount for freelancers.
