We will make the best possible proposal for the citizens, government says

"Rest assured that in difficult conditions, the government will have the best possible proposal for the Greek citizens," deputy Finance minister Yorgos Mavraganis said after meeting at the prime minister's office about the new tax bill.

The meeting, which took place at Maximos Mansion, was attended by the PM’s associates Dimitris Stamatis and Chrysanthos Lazaridis, Finance vice minister Yorgos Mavraganis and senior departmental officials of the Finance ministry. To a large extent, the meeting was caused by the political parties' reactions, criticism and protests by citizens due to the government’s intention to impose a 45% tax on incomes over 26,000 euros.

The strong social reactions led the prime minister to intervene and meet with deputy Finance minister Yorgos Mavraganis at Maximos Mansion, while he is expected to hold a meeting with the relevant people later today. The tax bill will also be discussed at a meeting of representatives of the three parties on Wednesday and possibly at a meeting of political leaders.
