Tsipras: Acceleration of the memorandum leads us to default
Speaking at the meeting of the SYRIZA PG, Alexis Tsipras urged the government not to accept the dialogue "with the authorized employees of the Troika" but to seek an immediate Summit in order to "find a new strategic plan for the Greek case with all European leaders."

Tsipras described the ND-PASOK-Democratic Left coalition government as an "internal Troika" and said that he will not allow it to "abandon every sovereign right to the infamous failed Troika that is coming back to our country tomorrow."

He repeated that SYRIZA refused to meet with the representatives of the lenders in Greece, adding that "the government must understand that there is absolutely no reason to interact with the three employees designated to implement a failed program."

The SYRIZA president accused the government of "inexplicable inaction" in the June 29 Summit. "Rather than negotiate as they said they would before the elections, they hid behind an unfortunate incident, the prime minister's accident, and tacitly accepted the disengagement of the Greek case from the overall European problem, and thus the complete isolation of Greece."

Furthermore, he said the government has adopted "the doctrine of the good penitentiary inmate. The more obedient we are in enduring their discipline or the harder we punish ourselves, the more lenient our lenders will be with us."

He said the memorandum is bankrupt and that the "its instigators and executors want to leave first." He urged the government to "stop playing with words", such as renegotiation or disengagement and "tell the truth to its people."

He explained that the "acceleration of the memorandum and the new harsh austerity measures in a damaged economy are pure absurdity which mathematically leads to default and removes us from the Eurozone. If this is the prescribed course, no one will be favored if it looks like an accident. If this is what Merkel wants, it would be best if we challenge her to say so and let her bear the consequences of such an option."

Tsipras mentioned Halyvourgiki as well, stressing that "what happened is revealing of the intentions and the cruel class policy of the government," while answering Samaras' words about the "sacred right to work" he said, "the right to work is sacred but not on rotation, not with wages from 300 to 500 euros."

He called on his MPs "not to let the government rest" and said that during the week there will be a submission of a second bill for the indebted households. Finally he asked the PG to proceed to further reduction of their parliamentary allowance by 20% to strengthen social solidarity actions. A 20% allowance is already deducted in favor of the party.
