SYRIZA's contradictions on the euro

SYRIZA has given rise to new contradictions on the need for the country to remain in the Eurozone. Speaking during a televised ANT1 broadcast, after repeating his view that money has no country and it is a medium of exchanging values, Manolis Glezos stated that “it does not really matter to us if we are within or outside the Eurozone. We do not care if we are in the euro or not. We care that money cannot rule the destiny of a people”.

Furthermore, he called together those who have anti-memorandum views.

The specific stance of the historic Leftist executive comes days after Tsipra’s statements to CNBC news, in which he was clearly in favor of remaining in the Eurozone.

Yiannis Milios, head of SYRIZA’s economic policy, attempted to allay Glezos’ statements. Mr. Milios has done an extensive study on our exiting the Eurozone and the EU.

Mr. Milios reiterated SYRIZA’s strong support for the country's stay within the Eurozone, arguing that Glezos’ statements indicate precisely that the austerity must be ended, which is depicted as a sign and prerequisite for the country in order to stay in the common currency zone.

“Austerity or drachmas is a false dilemma, there is no exit strategy of a country from the Eurozone, while such a development would have dire consequences for the entire euro area”, stated Mr. Milios.
