Suspenseful meetings for the formation of a government

For one and half hours, the Greek President Karolos Papoulias met with Antonis Samaras, Evangelos Venizelos and Alexis Tsipras at the Presidential Mansion.

The three political leaders left the place without making any comments, but ND head Antonis Samaras simply said that “talks will continue”. The latter left for his home, Tsipras went to the party HQ and Venizelos headed to Caravel Hotel to address his party’s parliamentary candidates.

Papoulias will see Panos Kammenos at 19:00 local, who is expected to ask for a meeting with the participation of the Greek FM and the governor of the Bank of Greece, Yorgos Provopoulos.

Earlier on, DIMAR president Fotis Kouvelis had expressed the belief that no solution will be found and said he would support a government backed by leaders who did not partake in the “blameworthy policy”.

Until now, there has been no further information on the Papoulias' schedule and when he is to meet with the rest of the leaders.
