Utilizing the refusal of SYRIZA president Alexis Tsipras, who asked for letters of repentance from the leaders of PASOK and New Democracy, Antonis Samaras tries to express the dilemma of the next elections.
The ND president replied in length to Tsipras, saying that "Tsipras wants to set up a Left anti-European front, but he should know that he will find the European Central-Right front against him. And his plans will not succeed."
Samaras points out the risk of anarchy and accuses the president of SYRIZA of "dangerous experiments" at a time when the country has reached its limits.
He says that "we are ready to give our tolerance to a minority government, in which we will not participate, as long as it ensures our stay in the euro and the national interests of the country."
He blames Tsipras for "doing anything possible not to form a government. We do not want the country to go to new elections. But listening to Tsipras’ statements, we realized that he is not willing to guarantee Greece's European prospects. Because what he says about an 'accounting investigation into the debt' etc., lead straight to default and an exit from the euro. So the issue is that the Greek people do not pay for the populism of some who appear to be 'followers of the European course' of Greece. The message of the election was received by our European partners as well, and they too have responsibilities. We asked for a renegotiation of the economic policy, to let the economy breathe and to relieve society, something which absolutely realistic and doable."
Samaras tries to shake off the responsibility of re-elections and charge it to Tsipras, whom he highlights as his key opponent as he makes an opening towards the central-right forces to set up a European front.

The initiative is aimed at George Karatzaferis, Dora Bakoyannis, Stefanos Manos and Thanos Tzimeros. All of them are out of parliament and would not have a problem joining ND to ensure their presence in the next parliamentary elections, if they happen in June.
The Independent Greeks are out since their chairman made it clear from the first day of the exploratory mandates that "I will not work with traitors." This, however, may increase the 18.7% rate, but ND is at risk of acquiring a pro-memorandum and neoliberal character, finally losing the the popular right wing, which Kammenos wishes to express.
As long as the formation of the government or re-elections are still pending, Samaras holds back the growing discontent in ND due to the bad election result. Already yesterday, MPs asked for the convening of the PG. Samaras went further than this motion, convening the party's executive secretariat today, where he will set the agenda for the next day.
The danger represented by Tsipras for the power system right now may favor the formation of a government by New Democracy, PASOK and the Democratic Left on the common basis of the country's stay in the euro and the disengagement from the memorandum. There are factors and forces within ND that say we should avoid the absence of government and repeat the elections. Kostas Karamanlis' reference, leaked on Tuesday, that "a government must be formed at any rate", is characteristic of this climate.
