KTEL owners’ trick resets buses on their routes
The intercity KTEL
bus routes are now running normally from Kifissos station, preceded by the inconvenience to the traveling public for nearly two hours.

At around 10 am routes stopped running as drivers of buses, who are carrying out a 24-hour strike, blocked both gates of the station, preventing the departures of buses.

The frustration of the passengers who were bound for Messinia, Laconia, Achaia and Thebes, was strong, but eventually the problem was solved by the owners, who asked people to board buses that were parked in the parking lot outside the station, which then departed normally for various destinations across the country.

Inside the station, which remained blocked by the drivers, were 4 squads of riot police, for fear of tension caused by the strike.

Drivers are accusing bus owners of successive layoffs and unilateral termination of the 2009 Collective Labor Agreement.

Holy Thursday is traditionally the busiest day of the whole year, during which more than 30,000 passengers travel around Greece. It is indicative that today’s schedule has 450 routes leaving only from the Kifissos bus station.

In any case, travelers are advised to contact their local stations before setting off on their trip.
