Statutory auditors are looking for the ship supposedly bought by Kouvelos

The auditors of the parliamentary committee on tax statements have moved from searching for the millionaire MP to identifying the ship supposedly bought by Isidore Kouvelos, husband of Dora Bakoyannis.

According to reports, the auditors were given a clear mandate to locate the data that will show if Kouvelos’ claims are true, that the transfer of $ 1 million regards his “market share of a new ship and it was the necessary guarantee to continue the processes on my part in order to complete this purchase.”

The committee expresses its commitment to investigate the facts of the case, declaring that they are not "moved by the supposedly indignant statements about targeting, smearing and distortion."

They have asked Kouvelos for detailed written explanations of the actual course of the 1 million U.S. dollars. According to the law, Bakoyannis’ husband is obliged to respond within 20 days, but in his contact with the chairman of the committee, Evangelos Argyris, he confirmed that he will send all necessary documents immediately.

The committee has also been given figures by the Bank of Greece and the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, which have been forwarded to the auditors to complete the findings. According to information, it will be ready by the end of next week.

The auditors are also investigating Venizelos’ list, which includes the politicians who sent remittances abroad last year. In these cases they will follow the same method applied in the case of Bakoyannis and Kouvelos; that is, they will not be satisfied only by "any superficial explanations. We will proceed to an investigation to determine if indeed there was a business venture."
