Papaioannou requests replacement for Peponis-Mouzakitis

An inquiry about the replacement of financial proseutors Grigoris Peponis and Spyros Mouzakitis was sent to the Supreme Judicial Council by Justice Minister Miltiadis Papaioannou. The two economic prosecutors had asked for the replacement denouncing interference in their work by justice officials, businessmen and politicians. In response to the complaints, there was an investigation conducted by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Fotis Makris, but the case was archived (twice) because in their written submissions, the two prosecutors did not name any persons that obstructed their work.

Now Mr. Papaioannou is requesting their replacement, accusing them indirectly but clearly of injuring the prestige of the justice system through “unsubstantiated allegations about persons of vested interests that allegedly hamper the efforts of truth-finding”.
