The… unpaid friend Azebiyo got 180 thousand euros!

The Spanish architect Jose Azebiyo received the petty sum of 180.000 euros in order to make the “master plan” for the re-creation of the former Greek International airport space, in the Elliniko area.

The shocking news comes from official lips and after the former PM George Papandreou had assured everybody that Azebiyo was a personal friend of his, giving personal and for-free advise…

The news were revealed in parliament by Yiorgos Papaconstantinou, minister of Environment and Climate Change, who said the Spaniard’s plan was “very useful” without specifying if the individual investors will necessarily proceed according to it or not.

The relevant minister said that the first part of the competition begins next Thursday.

“Elliniko space is an area of 6,300 acres. Central Park is half its size. Investors should know that we are not talking about a detached place but about a space which is part of the city itself. Based on a new transparency law which will be passed through.parliament, everyone will be aware of what is going to happen.”

According to Papaconstantinou, there have been bilateral talks with Qatar, which has expressed interest, but the main competition will be an open one, on an international scale and not between two specific sides only.
