New taxes although promised otherwise

Extra taxes that will bring in 5,3 billion is the plan of the government. They are reducing the tax free income levels and receipt discounts through the 2012 budget plan. Along with the cuts in pensions and wages come the cuts in state funding and the "bill" for employees and the lower classs reaches the amount of an extra 10,4 billion euros to pay.

The Finance Minister has not yet announced it, but most of this legislation has already been voted for. So there will be

- four times more taxes through the special contribution of "spaces with electricity".

- 2,41 billion euros through the double taxes on living expenses, less tax free income and no discounts in taxes any longer when submitting receipts.

-  269 million euros from equalizing the taxes on diesel and heating oil.

- 30 million euros from new higher taxation on cars.

- 39 million euros from other taxation.

In order for state income to reach 27% of the GDP, the government aims to find all tax evaders and to ask for its money back through tax collectors.

But there will be other ways to receive taxes.

- continue to get extra money from "employment" tax for all business owners, freelancers and services providers.

- change the tax to all property, lower the tax free limit,

- more money from the collection of special tax to help the unemployed.

- extra tax on businesses with more profit in 2010.

- extra tax on boats and yachts.

- new tax on tobacco.

- continue to receive extra tax from everyone for the "less fortunate".

- inrease in VAT on food and restaurants. 

Cuts in expenditure

- Cuts in wages

- Cuts in EKAS by 175 million

- Cuts in OGA , IKA, NAT and OAEE funding- 3,82 billion euros

For 2012 there wont be any tax returns or tax equalizations.

Finally, through selling state organisations and property, the government is aiming for more than the 1,8 billion euros they received this year.

- sale of the National Lottery

- sale of shares from OPAP, the Water Company in Athens and Thessaloniki and ELPE, 

- sale of ODIE, DESFA, LARKO, EAS, ELVO, 

- sale of the Mont Parnes Casino

- sell or rent out 39 buildings belonging to the State
