Lucas Papademos, a key figure

Members of the German government offered their good services in various ways, even approaching the skeptical Lucas Papdemos.

For the former Vice President of the ECB, his participation in the new government will be his last chance to get involved in Greece’s political affairs and meet the expectations that have been invested in his name from time to time.

On Saturday, he travelled from Boston to Frankfurt. The next destination was Athens. If the parties agree; if he accepts the proposal of being the next prime minister. Most of the people in the Greek capital  take him for granted. Those who speak with him are skeptical. Because he will not utter a word, and because the choice is up to the leaders.
