"I cannot guarantee an immediate solution"

With the words “hurt”, “regret” and “indignant”, Mr. George Papandreou reveals the way in which he experiences the crisis. “We are fighting uncertainty about the country’s future”, he added, in view of the critical decisions in the EU on the Greek debt.

The answers given to “Thema” reveal that all options are open: “I would like to guarantee everyone an immediate solution. I would be the happiest man in the world if I could. But I cannot”. “If Europe cannot solve its problems, then the consequences will be unpredictable for all of Europe”.

In this context, he notes that it is time for everyone to take responsibility for their actions, especially the New Democracy party, which has enormous responsibilities for the current situation but chose to follow from the podium”. As regards his own intentions, he is clear: “I am neither complaining nor abandoning the effort. I have not even considered that I could give up, run away from the fight”.  He also adds on scenarios of a coalition government: “ We made our choice, to continue the battle to save and change the country, to steer ourselves alone for however long it is necessary”…
