Equity prices were rising at commencement of trading at the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) on Wednesday, with the basic share price index up 1.63%, standing at 1,016.45 points at 11:15 am local time, and turnover at 16.585 million euros.

Individual sector indices were moving upwards, with the biggest earnings in Health, up 5.11%, and Banks, up 4.26%.
The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 2.73%, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 1.33%, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 3.62%.
Of the stocks traded, 74 were up, 8 were down and 5 remained unchanged.
