If anyone expected that the political landscape would somehow clear up through the PM’s meetings with political leaders, they have been proven wrong, as things seem to have become more complicated.

Maximou Mansion never harbored any great hopes for a consentual approach by Antonis Samaras, albeit on different points, but did not expect the outright refusal by the New Democracy chairman, which probably ended all hopes and minimum expectations for at least some convergence.
However, no one within the prime minister’s environment, has been able to even attempt to predict the PM’s future moves, who is now facing a long uphill battle.
Although prior to the meetings with the other political leaders some within the ruling party spoke with some ease about the possibility of elections in the event of failed meetings, after the talks in Maximou they avoided expressing their opinions.
In this CONTEXT, tomorrow’s meeting between Mr. Papandreou and President Karolos Papoulias becomes even more important.
Moreover, signs of disagreements on the “privatize everything” plan are beginning to show within PASOK’s parliamentary group.

Members of the movement appeared angry with the cabinet’s decisions to sell the Public Utility organizations, especially as concerns EYDAP and the ports of Piraeus and Thessaloniki, and suggested that they may not vote on the upcoming decisions, if - of course - they are given a choice on the matter.
