Last minute bomb defusal in Neos Kosmos!

A powerful improvised timer explosive device, placed outside the Neos Kosmos Tax Office, was identified and defusedvirtually at the last minute.

It all began a few minutes after 14:00, when an anonymous person called the “Eleftherotypia” newspaper and tipped them off that a bomb placed in a bag outside the Tax Office in Neos Kosmos would explode in 25 minutes.

The alarm was sounded immediately and the Police Bomb Squad arrived at the junction of Pytheos and Neocleous, and located the device beside the toilets.

Although the time frame allocated by the perpetrators had passed, the bomb did not explode (probably due to a manufacturing error). The police proceeded in neutralizing it through the division method.

The bomb was transported to the Police laboratories in order to investigate and identify any fingerprints or DNA.

So far, there are no official conjectures on who was behind the bomb placement, which would have been strong enough to cause great damage to the Neos Kosmos building, if it exploded.
