UPD:
The deadly march of the type A (H1N1) flu is continuing in our country.
Seven more people have passed away in the last 24 hours due to
complications brought on by the flu, bringing the death toll to 74. Most of the victims had a heavy medical history as they had been dealing with chronic health problems, but at least one person was completely healthy and without existing health problems.
Furthermore, within a 24h people, 19 people with the flu were rushed to the ICU due to severe respiratory failure (the list includes people hospitalised in ICUs until Wednesday noon). Of the 19, 15 have underlying diseases, while four have clear medical records.
The latest account of cases being treated in ICUs is 126, while since the beginning of seasonal flu, a total of 251 cases have been hospitalized.
The experts of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) stress the necessity of vaccination, even at this peak stage of the flu, especially for vulnerable groups.
Since immunity is achieved within seven to ten days and the wave of seasonal flu will last until the end of March, i.e. another six weeks, scientists believe that even now, vaccination with the flu vaccine will be an important impediment to the offensive of the flu.
