Looking into "underwater" bribes

The scandal with the Γerman submarines is now being investigated by Greek Justice and the special unit of Financial Crimes, said Mr. Evangelos Venizelos, Minister of Defense, today at the meeting of the Committee of Foreign Affairs and Defence in parliament.

After the reportage by the German magazine “Der Spiegel” , which mentioned bribes for the purchase of four submarines Mr. Venizelos stated that “Everything will be investigated by Greek Justice and all responsible authorities. The Special Unit of Financial Crime has already begun an investigation on all these issues”. He also added that the government is in possession of evidence which indicates that the case is worth investigating.

Furthermore, the Minister didn’t rule out that the Greek government will sue, saying that “all the evidence and material will be collected to see whether there is fraud which damages the State”. For any legal liabilities that might occur, the offenses do not fall under any statute of limitations if there is trafficking of “black” money.
