A peculiar arrest

The very strange case of the arrest of a young man by police is being investigated by the anti-terrorist unit.

The fact that the young man was arrested while carrying a Glock 9mm gun, a hand grenade and a fake ID, has given rise to rumours that the person arrested belongs to the circles of urban guerilla terrorism and might be a match to one of the profiles of wanted persons.

With the 22-25yo man there was a second person who managed to escape and shake off his pursuers in the back alleys of the area. Sources say that the anti-terrorist unit has raised a red alert in order for information to come forward as to whether the man is related to terrorism or not.

The arrest occurred after 2 o clock in the area of Nea Kifisia behind the building of the Traffic Police HQ. Police officers from the DIAS team saw two young men suspicioucly moving around the building and approached them to ask for IDs. They gave chase and there was a mini-puirsuit that led to one of them being arrested.

The fact that one of them was in possession of weapons, as well as a handheld camera that had footage of the police station, shows that this is not a case to be taken lightly and is most probably linked to terrorism.

A police officer stated in protothema.gr that “we suspect this man is already wanted but before we find out his identity, we cannot be sure of anything”.
