Four-hour work stoppages instead of 24-hour strikes
The employees of Pubic Transport have decided not to proceed with 24-hour strikes but instead to have short, 4-hour work stoppages throughout public transport.
The employees of Pubic Transport have decided not to proceed with 24-hour strikes but instead to have short, 4-hour work stoppages throughout public transport. The decision was slightly influenced by the strict reaction of the Ministry of Transport, which has instructed all Boards of Business to act on the strikes and ask for them to be considered illegal acts.
On Tuesday morning the decision of the courts in reference to previous strikes will be announced. The employees of the Electric Railway have already announced they have canceled their strike of Wednesday and will have a four-hour work stoppage between 12-4 in the afternoon. During the same hours the buses will also stop but trolley buses will operate normally, as will the suburban railway and the metro.
However, all Unions of Public Transport employees declare their determination to intensify their strikes after the 10th of January.
Simultaneously ,increases in all ticket types are to be announced in conjunction with the government’s decision to increase sales and to decrease public funding of transport companies.
According to sources, the Ministry of Transport will propose two ticket types, 1,20 for a single trip and 1,40 for a one and a half hour of travel valid on all public transport (current price for the same ticket: one euro).
