A new "Vatopedi scandal" involves 170 million euros meant for forests
Mr Ioannis Tendes, the procurator of Arios Pagos, forwarded trial minutes that concern the 170-million-euro mismanagement of the Fauna Fund. These minutes were submitted in order for Parliament to investigate any penal liability in the case of former Ministers of Agriculture, Evangelos Basiakos and Alexandros Kondos, in accordance with the law of ministerial liability.

The case was looked into by a financial supervisor, after reports from the Social Awareness Group.

Within the report, which encompasses the period between 2004 and 2008, findings reveal that there has been a mismanagement of the fiscal fund of Fauna and Forests, which by law should operate separately.

According to the investigation, the two funds operated as one, with the spreading out of funds to one or the other side.
