The country "dressed in white"

Extreme weather conditions and low temperature in most parts of Greece, with snow in Northern and Western Greece, Evia and Thessaly.

Snow has fallen on Parnitha and Penteli and other northern areas of Attica. The snowfall will continue until Sunday morning, when there will be frost.

Parnitha Avenue will remain closed from the funicular railway and upwards due to snowfall. Lorries are not allowed on the National Highway Athens to Theva and the junction of Magoula-Mandra, where cars need snow tire-chains.

Due to high winds no ships are allowed to set sail from Rafina, Lavrio, Piraeus and other smaller ports.

The rest of Greece remains in its majority in low temperatures and the thermometer has reached -5 degrees Celcius. In Thessaloniki the temperature is -5 degrees, and in Kozani and Florina the temperature has remained at -5 and in Ptolemaida at -4.

Samos island has declared a state of emergency since Agios Kostantinos is facing problems due to the high waves that have flooded streets and houses adjacent to the beach; the waves have also caused traffic jams. In Crete there are four people trapped in the mountain area of Anogeia Mylopotamos in Rehtymno. There are electricity problems on Mount Lasithi and extreme snow in Chania.
