Traffic mayhem is expected today due to the 24-hour strike of public transportation workers complaining against the plan of the ministry of Infrastructure for OASA.
This decision was taken during the general meeting of trolley bus employees, in which representatives from other bodies were present.
Specifically, on Wednesday there will be no operations throughout the day for the Metro, all lines and stops, ISAP, the tram, suburban railway but also trolley buses and conventional buses.
This strike will affect the OSE schedule, resulting in many route cancellations. Only a few will operate to meet very specific needs.
According to the TRAINOSE statement:
On Wednesday 08/12/2010:
- All passenger and commercial routes are cancelled except for international routes 334, 335, 336, 337, 462, 463, which will run on buses, along with 604 (Athens-Thessaloniki-Alexandroupoli) and 605 (Thessaloniki-Athens), which will run after the end of the strike. Route 605, Alexandroupoli-Thessaloniki, is cancelled.
On Thursday 08/12/2010:
Between Thessaloniki-Dikaion-Thessaloniki
- 613 is cancelled on the Dikaia-Alexandroupoli route.
Finally, on the day of the 24h-strike (08/12/2010) no service is guaranteed for the AMEL trains between Doukissis Plakentias and the airport.
Let’s not forget that according to what members of the ministry of Infrastructure have said, the governments’ plans to tackle the deficient DEKO include merging the 5 companies – now under OASA – into 2, staff transfers, cut the workers’ earnings not with budget cuts, but with eliminating benefits, raising the tickets and reducing from 75% to 50% state participation in ticket funding.
