The health authorities of Greece are on alert after the first confirmed case of MERS coronavirus infection

MERS virus: The taxi driver and 25 more people are monitored
The 69-year-old Greek, resident of Saudi Arabia, who arrived in Athens on Holy Thursday from Jeddah by airplane is the first confirmed case of MERS coronavirus infection.

The 69-year-old Greek patient hospitalized in a special unit of respiratory diseases while his health state is critical.

The taxi driver, who picked up the 69-year-old man, was finally found by the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (HCDCP) and he was subjected to the necessary medical examinations to determine if he is infected with the virus. The first results show that he is not infected by the virus.

It should be noted that, apart from the taxi driver, 25 more people who were on the same flight are monitored.

HCDCP has given specific instructions that if they develop symptoms of the virus (such as high fever or diarrhea), they should go immediately to the hospital or consult a physician.
