The Swiss return all the money from Kantas’ blocked accounts
The money will be deposited in a special account at the Bank of Greece - The information is confirmed by one of Kantas’ lawyers Elias Bisias
According to information the Swiss authorities are willing to return the money from Kantas’ blocked accounts in the banks of their country.
An amount of 1.7 million Swiss francs or 1.4 million euros will be deposited in the coming days to the account opened for the Greek government.
The money was deposited in the name of Antonis Kantas, who has returned to Greece about 9 million euros after admitting that he received millions in kickbacks to promote specific armament contracts.
More specifically, the information indicates that the Swiss Federal Prosecutor's Office greenlighted the return of all the amounts that belonged to Kantas, who was former Deputy General Director of Armaments in the Defense Ministry, to the Greek State in the special account opened at the Bank of Greece.
This information is confirmed by Elias Bisias, one of Kantas’ lawyers. Bisias said he is pleased by the cooperation with the Swiss Federal Prosecutor's Office and that "the necessary steps to remove the seizure imposed in Switzerland has already started and then to ensure the return of the money in the bank account of the Greek State."
These amounts that the Swiss authorities apparently return to Greece come from an account of a Trust and an insurance program for banks in Geneva.
