Mitsotakis: For the first time we have layoffs in the public sector
Those of the 45,000 public employees that have been audited and found to have been hired illegally will probably be laid off
"The goal of the first mobility circle has been achieved and for the first time we have layoffs in the public sector," Administrative Reform minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said Friday morning, adding that those of the 45,000 public employees that have been audited and found to have been hired illegally will probably be laid off.
In his statements on SKAI, Mitsotakis said the Greek government will not agree to a binding target of layoffs after 2014. "Three laws were passed and all three would either abolish agencies or make no scale savings. For the first time we have real savings because public workers are removed. The 200 that will be fired are private legal entities, while workers who are legal entities of public law will be put on the mobility program."
