Venizelos: No guarantee that Samaras will not go to early elections

The certainty that prevailed until recently in PASOK that New Democracy and Antonis Samaras will not go to early elections now seems to have been lost.
 
Government vice president and PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos said "I can not guarantee that Samaras will not go to early elections," and this has puzzled the party as it believes that Samaras aims at something more.
 
PASOK does not want the parliamentary elections. Given that Venizelos promotes the cooperation with the "58", but only in the name of the Socialist Party, it runs the danger in case of three successive elections, to find itself under three names: In the European elections as the Progressive Democratic Faction, in the national elections as PASOK and in the municipal elections with the names of local factions.
 
The messages from the polls do not give a clear picture of the situation and PASOK is prepared to wait, believing that if SYRIZA develops momentum on the way to the European elections, then May will be the last chance of the Prime Minister. They believe that national elections will be held on the 18th of the month along with the municipal ones, so the European elections to be held a week later will have no significance.
 
With all this in mind, PASOK members are supporting the government, but develop their own gait too. The suspicion about the motives of Samaras’ movements, as Real News reports, is hiding behind the expression of disagreements on numerous bills that come to parliament and the reactions to movements of the New Democracy. The public announcement on Evangelos Venizelos contribution has saved the situation and the negative climate has somewhat subsided.
 
With election scenarios eating away the insides of his party, Venizelos prepares for everything. Reportedly, he had a meeting with Kostas Simitis Wednesday night, in order for the former PM to help re-engage PASOK members that have distanced themselves from the party.
