EFSF will proceed during the week in the disbursement of the second subdose of the fifth tranche to Greece of 0.5 billion euros. The remaining 500 million will come from the proceeds transferred to the Greek State from its portfolio with the relevant program for securities markets (SMP).

"I am confident that the Greek authorities will soon finalize negotiations with the troika in order to allow for the completion of the ongoing evaluation of the reform program in the country," Dijsselbloem added.

Regling: Greece continues to make progress

"Greece continues to make progress in the adjustment process and this will contribute to sustainable mid-term growth,” EFSF chief Klaus Regling said approving the disbursement of 1 billion euros.

The announcement issued by the EFSF from Luxembourg states: "The board of the EFSF approved today the disbursement of 500 million euros to Greece. The evaluation of the third review of the economic adjustment program in Greece is positive and the last prerequisites concerning reforms in the public service, the professions, and compliance with targets for privatization have been met."

The same announcement says the disbursement of 500 million euros to Greece will come during the week and this amount will allow the Greek government to cover the financial needs of its budget. Meanwhile, ESM will provide the remaining 500 million euros, derived from the Greek bonds held by the banks of the Eurosystem from profits of 2012.

With today's disbursement, the total financial aid from EFSF reaches 133.6 billion euros with 10.2 billion remaining.
