Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos said that in his meeting Tuesday with the Turkish Foreign Minister and their agreement to have meetings on both sides with the negotiators of the Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot communities, there was no mention of a quadripartite conference or any other involvement of Greece.

He added that "the Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiadis asked the Greek government to accept a meeting with the Turkish-Cypriot community’s negotiator to facilitate a meeting with the negotiator of the Greek-Cypriot community with the Turkish government."

"Greece, as I had the opportunity to say to the UN Secretary General, supports the initiatives of President Anastasiadis aiming at a just, functional and viable solution under the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council, in line with the EU regulations," Venizelos concluded.
