Two timelines set by the Greek PM at the cabinet meeting
Easing election scenarios, rushing to meet the obligations
Finish all memorandum obligations in August and comply with the schedules until June 2014 - No relaxation
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras tried to tone down the election scenarios, asking the ministers and deputy ministers for "continued presence and action" until June 2014 when the presidency of Greece in the European Union undertaken at the beginning of 2014 will end.
The successful completion of the Greek presidency is one of the timelines of the governmental operation that the PM set during yesterday's Cabinet meeting. The second one is to accelerate the fulfillment of the memorandum obligations which he asked the government officials to curry out during the current month.
"We must do everything in August, and, if possible, at the end of the month close any liabilities which remain for September," Samaras said.
One pursuit of the Greek premier is to remove any excuse for delays by the partners and creditors of Greece in order to avoid the responsibilities undertaken in relation to the measures for the sustainability of the Greek debt. "We will not allow even the slightest relaxation as the tight timeframes should be met without negligence. I want work and compliance with the program."

"The opposition wants widespread unrest"
"The government should give its best to achieve the set goals," Samaras said, emphasizing the issue of the Greek EU presidency and noting the recent agreement with Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta, whose country takes over the presidency in the second half of 2014, to undertake joint initiatives "in making 2014 a year of Europe’s turn towards development and employment increase."Ακολουθήστε το protothema.gr στο Google News και μάθετε πρώτοι όλες τις ειδήσεις
